What is MobRacer?
MobRacer is an extensive 3D, multiplayer kart racing game that you get to play online in your browser from anywhere, at any time. You don't need to download and install a bunch of software to make it work. It's ready to play online without any installations as long as you have the Shockwave plug-in (which is just like Flash and also from Adobe).

But MobRacer is more than just racing. It's also a place to hang out with your friends, to challenge them to beat your lap times and accomplishments, to stoke rivalries with other racers, and to deck out your kart with individual and custom items you can design in the Shop. So start exploring and keep letting us know if we can do anything better through the Report bugs button at the top of the page.

To race on MobRacer, you'll need to install a quick plug-in from Adobe into your browser. Please install the Adobe Shockwave 11 plug-in and return to MobRacer to race. Don't worry, it's from the same people who make Flash and lets you do all kinds of cool stuff on MobRacer and all over the web. You can follow the directions on the Adobe website to get the plug-in and running.
Is this a real beta or another perpetual Web 2.0 beta?
Yes it absolutely is a real beta. We are working on the site and the 3D game everyday, and there's a lot that's left to do. We have a full-featured 3D game running on a robust community site for everyone to interact and have fun together. So there are a lot of moving parts and things could still break periodically while we are still in our beta. But we still wanted to put the game out there and see what people thought while we were still polishing it.

So we definitely appreciate your patience as things get pulled together. But even more importantly, we appreciate your help. If you notice things aren't working right or have ideas on how we can make MobRacer even cooler, we'd love it you could help us out and let us know your ideas or feedback by clicking the "Report bugs" button on the top of the page.
How do I play using Windows?
You'll need to install a quick plug-in from Adobe for your browser in order to race on MobRacer. Please install the Adobe Shockwave 11 plug-in and return to MobRacer to race!
How do I play using Mac OS?

MobRacer requires a Shockwave Xtra to provide MobRacer realtime physics so you can drive a car. Unfortunately, Adobe is not porting this physics Shockwave Xtra that MobRacer use to the Mac OS which means the game will not work for Mac OS users. However, Mac OS users can still play using either Bootcamp or Parallels to run Windows. Sorry!

What if I'm in a race and I wanna quit?
It’s kinda rude to quit a game when others wanna race against you. If you really wanna leave, you’ll have to close the browser. Keep in mind that there will be a 5 penalty if you quit in the middle of a game.
How do I race against my friends?

You can pick any online friends you want to race against on your home page or the race page when you are logged in. Go to your list of friends, hold the Control key and click as many online friends as you want, then click on the Race Now button to send out your race invites. The first 4 who accept will be taken into the race lobby where you will be waiting.
You can also add friends to a race lobby by clicking "Share by IM" and sending them the link to your race lobby.

I'm an Amateur. How do I level up?
In MobRacer, everyone starts off as an Amateur. You can work your way up to becoming a Rookie, Pro, Master, or Elite racer simply by racing and having fun. When you win 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, you earn points. The more you race, the more points you earn. The more points you earn, the more you level up. The more you level up, the more benefits you'll get. It's that simple. So go race!
How do I get gold?
There's multiple ways to get gold on MobRacer. It's easy! First off, you can earn gold by racing. It doesn't matter if you don't even place. You just gotta have fun, and we'll reward you with gold.

You can also earn gold by just browsing the site and being social with other racers and your friends. We give you random gold as special surprises just for spending time on the site.

If you're a great racer, or interact with other racers on the site, you'll earn accomplishment awards AND gold.


You don't have to wait to become an elite racer to get tons of gold. You can also buy gold through Pay Pal. Just go to our Buy Gold page, and choose how much gold you wanna buy. Pay Pal is fast, easy, and 100% secure. After you fill up your wallet, you can go to the MobRacer shop and deck out your kart and racer like crazy!

How do I customize my racer and kart?

The virtual world of MobRacer? is like real life - you have to go shopping in order to get stuff to look cool, unique, and different. Once you are logged in, click on the Shop tab. Once that page has loaded, you can click one of the top left buttons to choose what you want to customize first - your Kart or your Racer.


There are different categories and items to select from. You can also change the color of most items by selecting the color chooser on the right side below the preview movie. Every item has a price in gold pieces - rarer or cooler items usually cost more, just like real-life.


You can even design your own kart or helmet sticker. Just get into the one of the three sticker categories, click on the Make Your Own Sticker button, and start designing away!

Once you are satisfied with your look, click on the red Check Out button and you're ready to check out and show off your latest gear.

How do I design my own sticker for my helmet and kart?

You can design your own cool sticker decal for the back of your helmet, your tire arches, and the hood/boot of your kart. Just go to the Shop!


If you want to design a sticker for your kart, make sure you go to the Kart shop and click on either the Tire Arches Sticker category or the Hood/Boot Sticker category. Click on the red Make A Sticker button. A drawing canvas should appear and you'll be able to use cool tools to draw, stamp, type, or even upload a photo onto your sticker. You can name your sticker too. *Even cooler - you can keep the sticker to yourself or publish it in the shop. Preview it. If you like it, Add it to your kart!


If you want to design a sticker for your helmet, make sure you go to the Racer shop and click on the Helmet Sticker category. Click on the red Make a Sticker button. Same thing should happen as mentioned above - a drawing canvas will appear and you can use our tools to design your own sticker. It's that simple!


*If you keep a sticker to yourself, it will cost you 400 gold. If you publish the sticker in the shop, it will cost you 200 gold and other racers 300 gold. Share your design and save gold!

How do I update my racer?

Wanna change that frown into a smile? Wanna give your eyes some color?


Whatever your mood is, it's easy to update your racer. Just click on the Account link that's always sitting at the top right of the site, next to the Log Out link. There, you can do whatever you want with your racer. Just be sure to hit the red Save button when you're done!

How do I add a friend?

There are 3 ways to find and add your friends on MobRacer:


You can mass add friends by importing email addresses from popular email sites in our Friend Finder. Don't worry, we never store any of your personal email info we just use it to find your friends for you and then promptly forget it. If your friends are registered on MobRacer, you can send them a request to add them as friends. If they're not racing yet, you can do them a favor and send them invites to become racers and give you company.


Looking for a specific friend? Go to the Friend Finder and just search an individual email to see if that person is a racer or not. If your friend is already a racer, you can send a request to add as a friend. If your friend is not a racer, you can send them an invitation.


You can always go to a racer's profile page to check out their stats, accomplishments, and more. If you want to add someone as a friend from the profile page, you can always click on the Add Friend button above their profile picture, confirm the request, and wait for them accept.

How do I remove a friend?
On the site, click on the Friends tab. You will automatically be on the My Friends page. Scroll all the way down. You will see a Remove Friends link on the bottom left side. Click on this link, and red remove icons will appear over your friends' info. Click on multiple red remove icons to remove multiple friends. Confirm the friend removals. When finished removing friends, scroll all the way down to the page again and click on the done link on the left side.
What is a team?
Teams are made up of 10 more racers who band together to earn team points. Team points contribute to the team's overall ranking - and the goal is to be a top team. You can have as many team members on a team as you like, but only the points earned by the top 10 teammates contribute to the overall team points. A cool feature of being part of a team is that all teammates have a special, personalized license plate that the team captain gets to design. You can view Team Standings to see which teams are the best and where your team ranks.
How do I join a team?

You can either join an existing team or create your own team.


To join an existing team, first see if any of your friends belong to a team. Visit their team page through their profile or on your team page and click on the "Join Team" button above the team plate. Once you apply to join and if the team is open to all racers, you might just become teammates. You can also check out the Team Standings page to join any other team you like. The process is the same. Go to the team page, click on the Join Team button, request to join, and if the team is open to all racers, you can join. If a team is closed, only the team captain can invite you to join. You can message them and see if they'll let you on their squad.


You can always create your own team. Note that team formation is pending until you have a minimum of 10 teammates. Until you recruit 9 other teammates, you cannot earn team points, and no one can have the customized team plate on their kart. Being a team captain takes great leadership and management skills. Why is my team plate gray?

Your team formation is not complete until you have at least 10 teammates. Until your team formation is complete, you will not have access to the team wall, you cannot collect team points, your team will not appear in Team Rankings, and your team plate will remain gray. Recruit teammates now and get closer to team activation and a full-colored plate!

Can I get my friends to join the team I belong to?

If your friend is a racer but not yet on a team, you can go to your friend's profile page and invite them to join your team from there. Just click on the "Invite to Team" button on the left hand side where the team plate usually sits, send the team invite, and wait for your friend to accept. If they already belong to a team, you can still try and recruit them by using the Team Recruiting tool through your Team page.


Remember, the team you belong to has to be open to all other racers in order for your friend to join. If it's a closed team, ping the team captain to recruit your friend. If you're the team captain and your friend accepts the invitation, your friend automatically becomes a teammate.

How do I update my email/password/settings?
Click on the Account link at the top right of the site, next to the Log Out link. You can change your email and password there. We will be adding a Settings feature in your Account very soon for you to manage what emails you receive from MobRacer.
How do points and gold work?

You get points by placing well in races. The more competitive the race with lots of drivers, the more points you can get if you place. Points are the only way your rank and level improves. So if you're stuck at Rookie, go out and place well and you'll be moving up the rankings in no time.


You can get gold all over the site to spend in the Shop to make your kart and driver really stand out of the crowd. You get gold from just participating in a race regardless of what place you finish. Of course, the higher you finish, the more gold you get as well. But you also get gold from inviting friends or just randomly when you're playing around on the site, from writing on walls to adding friends. And of course if you're impatient, you can always buy gold as well. So get out there and get some gold!
